Progress Sessions

A visual record of your pursuit.

Not Before And After. During.

Most fitness photography is built around the destination — the reveal, the transformation, the after. Progress Sessions are built around the journey.

Each session is a visual record of where you are right now: your strength, your discipline, your growth, in the middle of the work rather than at the end of it. Then we do it again in a few months, and again after that. What you end up with isn’t a before-and-after. It’s a during, and a during, and a during — which is what the work actually looks like.

Simple movement. Real effort. The small milestones that make up a bigger story.

Real Effort, On Your Turf

These are not posed gym portraits and they are not transformation shoots. We shoot where you actually train — your gym, your box, the trail you run, the court you play on, the garage with the bar in it. Movement, effort, focus, the quiet part nobody photographs.

Thirty to forty-five minutes, and you train. I work around you. You don’t need to hold a pose, suck anything in, or perform for the camera, and I’m an ISSA-certified personal trainer, so I know what a good rep looks like — I can catch the moment without asking you to break your form for it.

Athleticism isn’t reserved for a select few. It’s something we all deserve to pursue, and it’s worth photographing long before anybody would call you finished.

The Arc Is The Product

One session gives you a month of content and a record of where you were. A series gives you something no single shoot can: the change itself.

Multi-session clients get a compiled progress reel at the end — footage and photographs from every session edited together into one piece that shows the whole arc of the pursuit. That is the thing people actually share, save, and come back for. It is what turns a set of sessions into a complete product rather than a repeated purchase.

Health is built in the now, in the quiet discipline of showing up. This is the record of having shown up.

About me

Mike Thezier outdoors with his camera

I know what months of consistent work actually look like.

My name is Mike Thezier (pronounced: tee-zee-ey). I’m a photographer and videographer based in Temecula, California, and most of my work happens between here, San Diego and Orange County — gyms, trailheads, gymnasiums and coastline, wherever the training actually happens.

I’m also an ISSA-certified personal trainer. That’s part of why I shoot the way I do: I know what a good rep looks like, so I can catch the moment without asking anyone to hold a pose that breaks their form. It’s also where Progress Sessions came from — I know what months of consistent work look like, and I think that’s worth photographing.

I’m FAA Part 107 licensed too, so aerial is on the table when a location earns it.

The experience

Before the session

We talk first about what you’re working toward and where you train. If it’s a block leading to something — a race, a meet, a season, a birthday you decided to be in better shape for — tell me, because the timing of the sessions should line up with the timing of the work.

Wear what you actually train in. Not new kit bought for the camera: the shoes with the wear pattern, the shirt you always reach for. The point is a record of the real thing.

If you’re on a multi-session pack we’ll rough out the cadence up front — quarterly or every other month — so the sessions are spaced far enough apart to actually show change.

The session

Thirty to forty-five minutes in your training environment. You train; I work around you. There is no posing, no counting down, and no stopping to reset a shot.

I shoot photo and video in the same session — movement, effort, the coaching cues, the moment between sets where you’re deciding whether to do another one. If you’d rather I stayed off a particular lift or angle, say so; it costs nothing to work around.

It is short on purpose. Forty-five minutes is long enough to get everything and short enough that it doesn’t wreck your session or your day.

What you get

Around 30 edited high-resolution photographs and one short vertical reel — 30 to 60 seconds, cut for Instagram or Stories — delivered in a private online gallery you can download from.

Full use of everything for your own accounts. Post it, print it, send it to your coach, put it on your trainer profile. Nothing is watermarked and nothing expires.

On a 3- or 6-session pack, the compiled progress reel comes at the end of the series: every session edited together into one piece covering the whole block.

Who it’s for

Anyone building a consistent training habit who wants to see and share the work rather than wait until they think they look finished. You do not need to be an athlete and you do not need to be at the end of anything.

Personal trainers and coaches documenting their own training — and getting a content library out of it. Athletes in a block: off-season development, pre-season build, sport-specific prep. Endurance athletes with a long build and natural milestones in it. Families documenting a wellness journey together.

If you’re a gym or a studio rather than an individual, what you probably want is a content retainer or a session day for your members — ask me and I’ll send that instead.

Sessions & pricing

Single Session

30–45 minutes

$325

Built for someone who wants a record of where they are right now, or who wants to see what this is like before committing to a series.

  • 30–45 minutes in your training environment
  • ~30 edited high-resolution photographs
  • 1 short vertical reel, 30–60 seconds
  • Private online gallery with full download
  • Full use on your own channels

3-Session Pack

quarterly · save $100

$875

Built for someone in a block of work with an end in sight — a season, a race build, a year of showing up — who wants the change on record, not just the end of it.

  • Three sessions, roughly quarterly
  • Everything in a single session, each time
  • Compiled progress reel at the end of the series
  • Cadence planned up front so the sessions actually show change

Why this over a single. One session is a photograph of a day. Three is the smallest number that shows a direction — and the compiled reel at the end only exists on a pack. It is also $100 less than booking three singles.

6-Session Pack

bi-monthly · save $300

$1,650

Built for a full year of work — someone training through a whole cycle who wants the entire arc documented properly.

  • Six sessions across the year, roughly every other month
  • Everything in a single session, each time
  • Full end-of-year progress reel, 2–3 minutes
  • Priority scheduling around your training calendar

Why this over three. A year is the timescale real change happens on. Six sessions catch the winter you almost stopped as well as the week it clicked, and the end-of-year reel has enough material to be a genuine short film rather than a highlight cut. It saves $300 against singles.

Add-ons. Extra reels, aerial coverage, and event or competition days are quoted alongside a session rather than assumed. Trainers and gyms: ask about the brand session and the content retainer — different products, priced separately.

Questions

I’m not in shape yet. Shouldn’t I wait?
That is the whole point of this, and the reason it isn’t a transformation shoot. Waiting until you think you look finished means you never photograph the part that actually took something — and there is no version of this where the first session is the good one. Start now and let the series do the work.
Do I have to pose?
No. You train, I work around you. I’m an ISSA-certified trainer, so I can read the movement and catch the moment without asking you to stop or hold anything.
Where do we shoot?
Wherever you actually train — your gym, your box, a trail, a court, your garage. I’m based in Temecula and shoot across San Diego, Orange County, Riverside County and the Temecula Valley. If your gym needs permission for a shoot, I’ll help you ask.
How far apart should the sessions be?
Quarterly on a 3-pack, every other month on a 6-pack. Far enough apart that something has actually changed, close enough that the series has continuity. We set the cadence when you book and adjust it around your training calendar.
What’s the compiled progress reel?
The signature piece on a multi-session pack: footage and photographs from every session in your series, edited into one video covering the whole arc. Two to three minutes on a 6-pack. It is the thing clients share and keep.
How soon do I get each session back?
Photographs and the session reel come back within about two weeks of each shoot. The compiled reel arrives after the final session in the series.

Next step

Pick a session or a pack and send it over with where you train and what you’re working toward. I’ll come back with dates and, on a pack, a proposed cadence.

A 50% retainer holds your date and comes off the total; the balance is due on the day of your first session. I’ll send the contract and the invoice through HoneyBook, so it’s signed and paid in one place.

Not sure whether to start with one or commit to a series? Book the single. If you decide within thirty days to move up to a pack, I’ll credit what you paid against it.
